Noting a couple of grave social problems, I had discussed in my It’s your problem | Life Series that when there’s trouble in the other parts of the neighbourhood, we tend to ignore them thinking it doesn’t and won’t affect us.
Read time: less than a min.
However, danger in one part of the community could mean that sooner or later, the entire neighbourhood or the whole society could be in trouble. And soon the whole country could get engulfed with the danger too.
We may be unaffected by the current events for now, but as trees catch fire on one side of the forest, the entire forest is at risk of being torched, these issues could be closer to our neighbourhood than we think.
When you see something wrong, try to stop it. If you cannot stop it, raise your voice to stop it, if you cannot raise your voice, then speak about it and create awareness about it. If you cannot talk about it, then stand with them in solidarity.
The antidote now for COVID-19 is to maintain social distances, whereas the cure for social evil requires us to come together stronger than ever before.
The change will come by changing our thinking.
The change will come by accepting the differences.
The change will come by becoming the change.
