The skipper of a sailboat | Life

Dancing in the rain.

The ocean (your environment) and the wind (your emotions) are powerful forces you cannot control. A good skipper doesn’t try to stop the wind or calm the ocean. Instead, they learn to adjust the sails (their thoughts and actions) to navigate the waters effectively and reach their destination, even in a storm.

Managing your life begins with awareness and emotional control.

Emotional control isn’t about hiding your feelings, pretending you’re not angry, or smiling when you’re sad.
It is not about being emotionless or robotic. Emotional control is about listening to them without letting them take over your behaviour.
It is not allowing others to dismiss your feelings or letting people walk all over you. Healthy emotional control includes assertively communicating your needs and setting boundaries.

It’s not about having no storm, but about learning to dance in the rain.

I’ll be back with more next week.

Stay tuned.
