During Ramadan, Muslims fast, pray, and reflect as they mark the start of the month with the sighting of the crescent moon. This holy month is not just about abstaining from food and drink but about inner transformation and soul awakening.
Fasting in Ramadan is a fundamental pillar of Islam that goes beyond physical hunger and thirst to test our discipline, willpower, and empathy.
By denying ourselves basic needs like food and water during daylight hours, we are reminded of our vulnerability and reliance on God’s blessings.
This intentional deprivation serves as a metaphor for life, teaching us to distance ourselves from negative traits like anger, hatred, injustice, and greed that hinder personal growth and communal harmony.
Ramadan encourages introspection, self-accountability, and nurturing qualities such as compassion, patience, and generosity. It challenges us to abandon behaviours that detract from our dignity in order to lead fulfilling lives.
Let us embrace this month as an opportunity to cleanse our souls, strengthen our character, and commit to goodness and equity.

Wishing those observing a peaceful and introspective Ramadan. May this period nourish both body and soul alike.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this!
I’ll be back with more next week.
Stay tuned.
