I realized recently (not sure why it took me so long) that this childhood game is more than just a pastime. It’s actually a metaphor for life.
As we navigate through our daily routines, it’s like we’re playing an ongoing game of “Snakes and Ladders.” Ladders symbolize the individuals who help and motivate us in achieving our goals: mentors, friends, and family. There are also troublesome snakes, which are like negative influences or setbacks that can bring us down unexpectedly.

But let’s dive even deeper.
Internally, the game can symbolize the good habits and deeds — our personal ladders — that propel us forward. Meanwhile, bad habits and poor choices can be seen as snakes, ready to send us sliding back down just when we thought we were making progress.
I just think it’s a fascinating way to visualize our personal journey. Drawing out those real-life parallels can really put things into perspective.
So, here’s a thought: What are the ladders in your life that you’re grateful for? And how do you overcome or avoid those snakes to stay on track?
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this!
I’ll be back with more next week.
Stay tuned.
