Ben Hunt-Davis led the British national men’s rowing team in 2000. He gave the team a question to ask before making any decisions or taking actions, whether in practice or not: “Will this improve the boat’s speed?”
Every action was validated against this one question, leading the team to make the right choice. With that one question, the team improved their behaviour and performance and won gold at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
I find it valuable to use this question before reacting to any situation –
Will this make me look better?
Will this improve my relationship?
Will this improve my family?
Will this improve my health?
Will this improve my neighbourhood?
Will this improve my country?
And the list can go on.
Thank you for reading. I’ll be back with more next week.
Stay tuned.
Warmest,
Razak
